Brachioplasty, also known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin from the upper arm. It is generally performed in patients who have lost a significant amount of weight and have sagging skin on their arms as a result of such weight loss. This procedure can tighten the loose skin around the arms.
Scott Wells, MD, can conduct a thorough evaluation including a medical history assessment to determine if you are a candidate for an arm lift. Such factors include blood pressure, prior accidents, injuries, and motion.
Dr. Wells will also evaluate your goals and expectations including any residual or visible scars from surgery.
The procedure is generally performed under general anesthesia and most patients are able to go outdoors within two to three days and use their arms for light tasks. Vigorous tasks may take up to four weeks.
A brachioplasty can produce a tightened and more youthful and attractive appearance to the upper arm. The scar may be a bit more noticeable at the onset but tends to fade over time and reaches its final appearance over six months to a year.
The procedure can also be performed with liposuction, if necessary, in patients who have heavier upper arms.
Dr. Wells has performed many brachioplasty procedures with excellent results. Patients have been ecstatic with their new appearance.
